Its been a while since the last post. Since the last post we met with Dr. Tung for his check up. Things are looking pretty good right now. He is feeling pretty good. Matthew's Remicade treatments have been set for every 8 weeks from now on. So our next one is on April 16th. The last few days before his treatments he usually starts to not feel so good. His 8 weeks should have been today but they didn't have any openings so we got set for next week. I am hoping that his tummy doesn't start to hurt too bad in the next few days. He has already been sent home once this week because he didn't feel good.
At his appointment with Dr. Tung she ordered a new stool sample test. Its called a fecal Calprotectin. I am not exactly sure what it is for but I know they use it for patients with IBD. She said it looks for the same things that the blood tests look for but it only shows what is going on in the bowel. Matthew's blood can show a high white count, but that doesn't mean it has anything to do with the Crohn's. This way the stool sample shows what is going on with his intestines. The number is good if it is <250 but they want it <50. Matthew was at 188.8. So not the best but it is still in the good range. The Calprotectin isn't a bad test. We do it at home just like any other stool sample we have done. The only thing is, It comes to us in a box from fedex and then we have to put a cold pack in it and send it back through fedex.
Today we are going in to get his Hep B shot. Dr. Tung did a test to find out what vaccines were still working and that one is not. I guess when you are on meds that knock down your immune system it takes away your immunity to diseases that you were vaccinated against. Everything else is still covering him. So we will do one shot and then they will do a blood test to see if one was enough. If not then they have to to 2 more.
Thank you to everyone who has bought a shirt or sponsored us in the walk! It means a lot to Matthew and the rest of us. The walk is May 11th so there is still time to sponsor us in the walk!!! Matthew hit his goal of over $100 so he can get a walk t-shirt. We would love to get Braden and Zack over $100 too! Please click one of the links below to help us get them over too!!!

We are also in the process of getting all of Matthew's forms in for Camp Oasis. It is a camp for only kids with Crohn's or Colitis. All of the workers also have an IBD. Dr. Tung is the medical director of the camp so we have no problems on that end. She said he is good to go with her we just need to fill the papers out and sign them so she can sign them! It will be nice for him to have a familiar face there too! Ruby that we met at the education session will be there too!
Well that is it for now. I will update again soon!
